What began as a humble delicatessen on Central Avenue has grown into an iconic, nostalgic fixture of uptown Phoenix. Founded in 1949, Cheese ‘N Stuff has proudly served four generations of Phoenicians, from students grabbing a quick lunch to longtime locals coming back for their favorite order, just like they’ve done for decades.

For over 70 years, Bill and Jane Dombroski and three generations of the Zawatski family poured their heart into the shop, making it not just a deli, but a place where stories were shared, friendships were formed, and memories were made—always over a great sandwich.

Today, the legacy continues thanks to five high school friends and fourth-generation Phoenicians, who grew up with Cheese ‘N Stuff as part of their own story. With a deep love for Phoenix and respect for the past, they’ve taken up the mantle, preserving the local feel, the iconic sandwiches, and the welcoming counter-service spirit that made Cheese ‘N Stuff what it is.
